Ebola Test Vaccines Appear Safe in Liberian Clinical Trial
The cAd3-EBOZ and VSV-ZEBOV candidate Ebola vaccines appear to be safe, according to interim findings of a study among more than 600 people in Liberia. The trials, led by a NIH-Liberia research team, can now advance to Phase 3. Given the decline in Ebola infection incidence in Liberia, trial leaders have determined that it is scientifically appropriate to expand the trial to additional sites in other West African countries. The research team also plans to launch a separate natural history study of Ebola survivors to better understand the after-effects of Ebola virus disease.
