Report shows combining drug use with underage drinking raises health risks

The national plan outlines support for expanding prevention, treatment, recovery, and Smart on Crime reforms. It also highlights actions underway to reduce heroin and prescription drug abuse.
Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Tennessee have been selected to participate in the Improving Diversion Polices and Programs for Justice-Involved Youth With Behavioral Health Disorders: An Integrated Policy Academy-Action Network Initiative.
New SAMHSA report shows underage drinkers (ages 12 to 20) who were treated in hospital emergency departments were more than twice as likely to wind up with a serious health outcome if they also used drugs at the same time.
The purpose of this program supplement is to support the objectives of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (NSSP), provide technical assistance for NSSP implementation, and develop an implementation plan for preventing suicide among men in midlife, with the overall goal of reducing suicides and suicidal behaviors in the Nation.
A free smartphone application created by SAMHSA makes it easier for behavioral health responders to focus on disaster survivors by providing them quick access to resources for getting help.
